Give Mind a Break!

I need to give my mind a break!

How often have you asked yourself something along these lines?

We get stuck in traffic, we have so much to do and don't know where to start.

Everything pulls us in a different direction.

We have family drama, work drama, life drama, even social media drama.

We suffer from TMI or Too Much Information or Information Overload and just want to relax our mind!

Please!!!

Two of the best ways to give our mind a break are by finding a creative outlet:

first is Coloring, and a close second is Journaling.

Though meditation, exercise, disconnecting from technology, and faith-based practices help clearing minds too, these are the ones I find are the most perfect (not to mention therapeutic) ways to clear your mind.

Starting a journaling practice can be a rewarding way to reflect, process emotions, and foster personal growth.

Here’s your 7-step guide to help you get started:

1. Set a Routine

Decide when to journal—whether in the morning to set intentions for the day, or at night to reflect on the day’s events. Start small, even 5-10 minutes a day can make a big difference. Be consistent but flexible.

2. Find a Comfortable Space

Create a peaceful environment for your journaling practice. It could be a quiet corner of your home or your favorite coffee shop.

3. Start with Simple Prompts

If you're unsure what to write, prompts can guide you. Here are a few to get started:

  • What are three things you're grateful for today?
  • What’s currently on your mind?
  • What are your goals for the day/week/month?
  • How are you feeling emotionally, physically, and mentally?

4. Be Honest & Authentic

Write without worrying about grammar, spelling, or structure. This is for you, so let your thoughts flow freely.

5. Reflect Periodically

Every week or month, revisit past entries to see patterns, growth, or insights.

6. Try Different Styles

Gratitude journaling: Focus on the positive aspects of your life.Stream-of-consciousness journaling: Write whatever comes to mind without filtering. Faith-based journaling: You might incorporate scripture, prayers, or reflections on your relationship with God.

7. Let Go of Perfection

Journaling isn’t about getting it “right.” Allow yourself to be imperfect and enjoy the process.

By incorporating journaling and coloring into your daily routine, you can promote mental well-being, reduce stress, increase self-awareness, and cultivate a greater sense of inner peace and clarity.

These journals are the best as they incorporate both coloring and journaling. Check them out:
